I am proud to announce that I have received the endorsement of The Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters. This is incredibly good news for our campaign as we build support from labor, business, and community leaders. The Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters represents more than 65,000 union carpenters in six states. The local chapters are the Carpenters Union, Local 630 located in Long Beach, and the Pile Drivers, Local 2375.
In their endorsement announcement, Hal Jensen, President of the Council, said "The Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters was very impressed by Robert Garcia’s plans for Long Beach and his support for issues important to our members, such as job creation and economic development. We have no doubt he is the best candidate for Mayor. He has our enthusiastic support and we will work very hard to ensure he wins."
As Mayor, I plan to bring together labor and business to meet the challenges of the next economy. We need to encourage smart growth at our ports, in our Downtown, and along our business corridors. We can partner with our local building trades to build our public and private projects and train the local workforce.
The Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters joins a growing list of support from throughout the city, and I am thankful for their support.
