On Tuesday, Larry Herrera-Cabrera will serve at his final City Council meeting as Long Beach City Clerk, before retiring at the end of the month. I want to take a moment to recognize the years of tremendous work and devoted service Larry has given to the City. His nearly 13 years supervising Council meetings, elections, and all the City's record-keeping activities have been marked by advances in technology, improved efficiencies, and strong leadership.
Larry is respected and admired by his staff, colleagues, and City leaders, and he will be very much missed. I'm looking forward to thanking him publicly and in person Tuesday night, April 21. He leaves the City in good hands, as he has prepared his outstanding staff well to continue smooth operations in the Clerk's office.
One of Larry's final acts was to supervise the fourth district council election, which Daryl Supernaw won. Larry did a great job, and the election went very smoothly. Before he retires on April 30, Larry will prepare the certification of the election of Councilmember-elect Daryl Supernaw. Poonam Davis takes over as Interim City Clerk May 1.
My congratulations to Larry Herrera-Cabrera on his retirement, and my thanks for his service!
