I want to make sure you are aware of two important community meetings happening tomorrow, Saturday August 22.
First, at 10:30 AM in the Jenny Oropeza Community Center at Cesar Chavez Park, I, along with State Senator Ricardo Lara, Assemblymember Anthony Rendon, who also chairs the Utilities and Commerce Committee, and Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell, will be cohosting a Town Hall with representatives from Southern California Edison and the California Public Utilities Commission. This is an opportunity for residents to learn about the steps being taken to prevent future power outages like the ones we’ve recently experienced, and to ask questions of SCE, the PUC, and your elected officials. SCE needs to hear your stories and your concerns. I want to encourage anyone with questions about the power outages to attend this event. Chavez park is located at 401 Golden Avenue.
I also want to invite you to my final “Meet the Mayor” event of the summer at 11:00 am at the Bret Harte Library, 1595 W. Willow Street. I’ll provide some updates on what we’ve been working on to improve our city, and answer questions from residents. We've visited a different library every Saturday over the last four weeks. We will serve coffee and light refreshments as well.
It’s important to me to be available to the residents of Long Beach and spend time talking with people in the community, and I hope that you can come to one or both of these meetings. I look forward to seeing you!
