A Victory For Equality

As you have probably heard by now, a federal court has overturned Proposition 8, which outlawed same-sex marriage in California. The court found that the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution protects marriage equality. I agree completely.

This decision is an amazing victory for equality, justice, and love. The right to marry is an essential part of being human, and being American. I am proud that our court system stood up for equality and for the right of all Americans to marry the partners of our choice.

For those of us that support marriage equality, the struggle isn't over. Those in support of Proposition 8 have already said they will appeal. But we have taken a huge step forward, and we are prepared to work as hard and as long as it takes to make sure Proposition 8 is overturned once and for all.

If you support marriage equality, please join and encourage your friends to join our online petition and Long Beach network at www.joinrobert.com.

The fight continues, but for today, we have something great to celebrate.

Go California! Go Long Beach!
