Hey Long Beach, "It Gets Better"
One of the reasons I love Long
Beach so much is that we respect and support
everyone, regardless of who they are, or where they
come from. You may have heard of the national "It
Gets Better" Project. The campaign is a series of
videos aimed at supporting Gay and Lesbian youth who
may be experiencing bullying or harassment because
of their sexual orientation.
Over 25,000 user-created videos have been created
for the project and viewed more than 40 million
times worldwide, including spots by President Obama,
the Boston Red Sox and SF Giants, and the employees
of Google, Facebook, Pixar and thousands of other
people from all walks of life.
Today, I'm proud to release the Long Beach: "It Gets
Better" video. We hope you like it, but most
importantly, we hope you share it, post it on your
Facebook page, tweet it, and let people know that
Long Beach supports everyone. I want to thank
everyone who participated, but especially Mayor Bob
Foster.
The video premieres this Wednesday, November 16, at
8:45 pm on LBTV at Channel 3 on Charter, and Channel
21 on Verizon FIOS.
It is also now available at the City's YouTube page
here.
The video will play on LBTV for the rest of the
year.
Take a look at the video, and make sure to post it
on your Facebook wall, tweet to your friends, and
share online.
