Representing Long Beach at the White House

I am honored to be the guest of President Obama for a reception tonight at the White House with mayors, members of Congress, and cabinet secretaries. In fact, just moments ago, I had the chance to talk to the President about our commitment to end veteran homelessness in Long Beach.

President Obama has asked every city in America to commit to ending veteran homelessness, and last week we announced that Long Beach will accomplish this profoundly important goal by the end of this year. Earlier this year, New Orleans became the first city to reach this goal.

I also met with White House officials earlier today about veteran homelessness and port issues.

I'll be back in town tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to working with our new Councilmember Daryl Supernaw who is being sworn-in at the City Council meeting today. I talked to him earlier and he's ready to hit the ground running.
